Abstract(s)
A metodologia seguiu
This dissertation has the general objective of understanding which meanings of “woman” are reproduced in the presentations of the protagonists of the soap opera Fuzuê from Brazil and Flor sem tempo from Portugal, based on their pre-launch posts on Instagram. The specific goals are 1) to analyze the posts related to the protagonists based on pre-established categories; 2) to identify whether there is any pattern in the posts; and 3) to compare the meanings of “woman” reproduced in the pre-launch posts between the soap opera on Instagram. The methodology followed a 6-stage path: (1) pre-analysis, (2) coding (3) prior research (4) thematic table (5) analysis categories and (6) data interpretation. As a result, we highlight that the meanings of “woman” in soap opera are diverse, as evidenced by the final categories of gender and structural racism. There is an intertwining between traditional roles, such as mother, wife and housewife, and roles of working women who are independent and know what they want. These meanings both reinforce social standards and challenge them, depending on the cultural context and narrative of each plot.
