Abstract(s)
The entrepreneurial family is a social institution about which little is known, despite its ancestry and its importance and influence on the structures that operate family businesses. As complex as it is, it must be analyzed from multiple theoretical perspectives, since that influence on the family business is noted by the provision of unique idiosyncratic resources - physical, financial, social, human - familiness. This is a topic within the theory of the firm's resources, which requires a sociological approach, as it also refers to the behaviors and attitudes of the members of the consanguineous family that make up the entrepreneurial family. In turn, the latter is perceived as being an open system, with a perimeter of variable geometry, with flows into and out of the system, whether due to natural causes or social reasons, which contributes to the process of creating sustainable transgenerational value, through the entrepreneurship of the different generations of the business family. This is the necessary condition that justifies why the mere availability of those valuable, rare and inimitable resources alone does not guarantee a competitive advantage for the creation of sustainable value and the perpetuity of the business or businesses that sustain the entrepreneurial family over time.
