A preservação do ambiente nos dias de hoje assume abordagens bem diversas das que tinha no final do século XX.
O tema que neste trabalho final de mestrado nos propomos abordar é uma matéria que a muitos tem preocupado nos últimos anos, pois tem-se constatado que a resposta a uma necessidade básica, a da habitação, tem vindo a ser dada pelo aparecimento de novas construções, muitas vezes ocupando de uma forma irreversível e desnecessária, solos agrícolas, ou não, mas sempre virgens.
A preocupação da preservação do edificado com a sua recuperação, reconstrução e devolução à sociedade, não tem acontecido, e muitos que a defendem afirmam, de uma forma peremptória, a necessidade de atribuir subsídios para a reabilitação urbana.
A abordagem, e concomitantemente, as propostas que são feitas neste trabalho são a tentativa de trazer à discussão a real importância desta matéria nas suas múltiplas vertentes. O ambiente é uma delas e, seguramente, uma das mais importantes.
A pergunta, relativamente à qual vamos procurar respostas é: vale a pena preservar e reabilitar ou é preferível demolir e fazer novo? A resposta centrar-se-á, fundamentalmente, ao nível ambiental e da qualidade.
Preservation of the environment these days, takes quite different approaches from those they had at the end of the century XX. Masters theme that we intend to address in this work is a matter that has worried many in recent years. It has been found that the answer to a basic need, the housing, has been given the appearance of new buildings, often filling in an irreversible and unnecessary way, agricultural soils, or not, but always virgins. Concern of preserving the building with its recovery, reconstruction and return to society, has not happened, and many that claim argue, of a peremptory manner, the need to provide grants for urban renewal. The approach and concomitantly, the proposals that are made in this work are attempting to discuss the real importance of this issue in its multiple facets. The environmental is one of them and, certainly, one of the most important. The question, for which we seek answers is: whether it is worthwhile to preserve and rehabilitate or is it preferable to demolish and to do it all over again? The response will focus, essentially, at environmental and quality level.
