Abstract(s)
Desenvolvimento;
- Conhecer as redes de apoio de cada família;
- Conhecer as redes de apoio formal presentes na comunidade local;
Perturbações do Desenvolvimento;
This study has as its theme Families of children with Developmental Disorders, the importance of formal networks. Families of people with Developmental Disorders experience daily difficulties that worsen when the necessary support is not available. The reasons that led us to choose this topic were the importance of having a good support network in families with people with PD at all levels and the importance of improving the families' quality of life. During this study, there was a need to know the reality of some families that have people with Developmental Disorders in their midst. Crockenberg and Litman (1991) refer to the importance of the social network factor, also called support network, as a minimization of risk factors felt by families, also seeing it as an added value of the opportunities given to the child. The objectives of this study are: - To know the difficulties experienced by families with people with Developmental Disorders; - To know the support networks of each family; - To know the formal support networks, present in the local community; - To recognize the importance of formal networks in the lives of families with people with Developmental Disorders. In this work we developed a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews and bibliographic research. The interviews were carried out with six families with people with PD, the Coordinating Professor of the Support Center, the Mayor, the Councilor or Social Action, the Councilor for Urbanism and the Representative of the Alto Alentejo nucleus of the Association “Network of Parents". The results point to the need to create formal support networks for families with people with PD, since there is no response in the local community to the needs felt by families. The interviewed families, despite having shown some fragility with the topic addressed, are willing to collaborate so that their children have the same opportunities as the other children.
