Abstract(s)
This study was conducted within the scope of the Master’s Degree of Qualification for Teaching in Preschool Education and Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Primary Education and aims at completing this cycle of studies. It is included in the theme of Parental Involvement and its main objective is to study the influence of parental involvement in the school life of students and their impact on their school success. Parental Involvement is a theme that has been studied in view of its importance in the lives of students and other actors. Although over the years there has been growing concern and effective involvement and participation by those in charge of education in the school and educational life of students, it is still relevant to study and deepen this theme, as it is quite current and extremely important. Two main objectives were defined to achieve the study, including: Describe and analyze the different types of parental involvement and To know and understand the representations of different actors about the importance of parental involvement in the formative process and school success of students. To address these objectives, the research study adopted a General Qualitative Approach and Descriptive Investigation using mixed techniques (questionnaires and interviews), implemented in a sample of participants composed of 117 respondents. With the performance of this study, it is concluded that it is essential that school and family maintain a good relationship, based cooperation and co-responsibility for the integral development of children. This should be based on communication and respect for the role of the other, so families will seek to get involved and will be welcomed by the school/teacher. It is therefore of utmost importance that parental involvement is encouraged, for its multiple benefits, of which stands out the strong correlation with the students’ school success.
