Abstract(s)
This internship report comes under the scope of the 2nd Masters Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing, taught at the São José de Cluny Nursing School. Its purpose is to describe and report reflected and grounded, based on the learning resulting from the activities and experiences lived through the stages provided in the study plan of the Course aiming at its subsequent discussion and attaining the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing. These were performed at the Emergency and Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Doutor Nelio Mendonça, at the Unit for Prevention and Control of Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance and at the Unit for Intensive Care of Infectious Diseases of the Centro Hospitalar de São João. The report is based on the analysis of the referential of the common and specific competences set forth in the Nursing Regulations of the Specialist Nurse Practitioner in Medical-Surgical Nursing, where I specialize my attention to the transversality of infection control in the specialized intervention in the context of patient care critical. Health Care Associated Infections are a silent epidemic and a crosscutting problem throughout the care process, affecting a large number of people and health care institutions worldwide, with negative implications for users, families, caregivers and others health institutions. Thus, throughout my training, I emphasized the following competence: maximization of intervention in the prevention and control of the infection in the critical user and or organic failure. In order to concretize and justify the report, I turned to the bibliographical research, the most recent scientific evidence, the Decrees of Law in articulation with the Nursing Profession of the Regulation, with the Nurses Deontological Code and with the Quality Standards in Nursing.
