Abstract(s)
No nosso percurso destacamos o
This report entitled “Development of specialized nursing skills: The comfort of the person in a palliative situation with constipation” was developed within the scope of the 1st Master's Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the area of Nursing for People in Palliative Situations. The objective of this document was to describe and analyse the path of acquisition of common and specific skills of the specialist nurse guided by the Decree-Law No. 65/2018 of August 16, namely by the units of competence described and for the academic degree of Master. The grounded reflection explained here contributed to the consolidation of the skills acquired throughout this master's course in its theoretical-practical aspects, highlighting the development of a self-training project and the completion of an article published in a scientific journal as major drivers for the acquisition of master's degree skills, contributing to the perception of the importance of continuous investment in personal and professional training. Regarding the phenomenon under study in this document, to synthesize knowledge about promoting comfort for people in a palliative situation with constipation and their family, we carried out a narrative review of the literature on the evidence and the state of the art, regarding the topic under study and the main nursing interventions and strategies for comfort in Palliative Care. The development of the theme of comfort and constipation symptoms allowed us to deepen our knowledge, with this area being identified in PC as essential to nursing care. Authors such as Kolcaba, Apostolo, Sousa, among others, developed studies on the theory of comfort, defining and explaining how essential the role of the nurse is in promoting it in multiple areas, namely constipation, a common and costly symptom that has such an impact on the physical, emotional, spiritual and social point of view, in the person in palliative situation and in their family.
