O enfermeiro é o profissional que por mais tempo desenvolve atividades junto do doente, o que o torna responsável, por desempenhar um papel fundamental na prevenção das infeções associadas aos cuidados de saúde, mas também o torna potencialmente veículo de transmissão das mesmas. O insuficiente renal crónico em programa de diálise, convive diariamente com o facto de ser portador de uma doença crónica, que o obriga a um tratamento doloroso, de longa duração que provoca, juntamente com a evolução da doença, alterações de grande impacto, tanto na sua vida como na dos seus familiares, é cada vez mais importante a criação de ambientes que sejam potenciadores de bem estar, pois esses, são os verdadeiros ambientes seguros.
A higienização das mãos é identificada mundialmente como uma medida básica, mas fundamental, no controle de infeções associadas aos cuidados de saúde, logo é considerada como um dos pilares da prevenção e do controle de infeções nos serviços de saúde.
É indispensável insistir nesta prática nos locais onde se prestam cuidados com o intuito de aumentar a adesão à higienização das mãos.
Com o impulso dado pelo programa da OMS, “Salve Vidas: Higienize as Mãos”, e a realização de momentos de observação, monitorizamos os momentos de adesão a boas práticas em resultado do observado, aumentamos os momentos de formação, pois a prática da enfermagem exige ao longo do seu percurso um processo contínuo de aprendizagem e atualização para que os cuidados sejam de excelência, cabendo ao Enfermeiro Especialista e Mestre em Enfermagem Medico-Cirurgica, a responsabilidade de conceber estratégias que visem reduzir as infeções que podem ocorrer na prestação de cuidados.
A nurse plays a key role in preventing infections associated with healthcare because spends long time with the patient, but also can potentially become a vehicle for transmitting infections. The patient with chronic renal impairment undergoing dialysis lives with the daily fact of being a carrier of a chronic disease which requires a long term painful treatment. This along with the disease progression, changes both his and his own family life, so is fundamental to create a safe environment which improves the welfare of the patient. Hand´s hygiene is identified worldwide as a basic measure, but fundamental to control infections, so it is regarded as one of the basic pillars of prevention and infection control in health care environment. It is fundamental to reinforce the importance of hand’s hygiene in places where health care services are performed in order to increase adherence to this practices. With the impetus given by the WHO´s program, “Save Lives: hand hygiene”, we researched different practices with the objective of increasing the adherence to best hand hygiene practices. We also increased training of nurses with the same objective. It is the duty of the Nurse Specialist and Master in Medical-Surgical Nursing of patient in critical stage to set guidelines in order to reduce situations that can spread infections.
