Abstract(s)
This research aims to analyze the role of photojournalism in the construction of social reality, exploring the balance between journalistic objectivity and artistic subjectivity. Based on the premise that journalistic images are not mere reflections of the world, but subjective constructions of it, this work discusses how visual narratives can be used in photojournalism to serve its main purpose: to inform. The theoretical foundation focuses on the influence that journalism has on the action of reality, but also covers other topics, including the new digital paradigm, partly made up of social networks, journalistic ethics and responsibility and the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. In the second part of the work, two research methodologies were adopted - interviews and content analysis - the results of which led to the conclusion that photojournalism does indeed play a valuable role in the construction of social reality, but that in order to remain relevant and achieve sustainable and lasting growth, it is essential that professionals in the field are able to adapt, at the risk of losing their relevance in a society increasingly flooded with information and multimedia content.
