Realizado no âmbito do 1º curso de Mestrado em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica
na área da Pessoa em Situação Crítica do consórcio entre a Escola Superior de Saúde de
Santa Maria e a Escola Superior de Enfermagem de São José de Cluny, o presente
relatório pretende descrever de forma crítica e reflexiva, o processo de aquisição de
competências comuns e de competências específicas do Enfermeiro Especialista, bem
como o desenvolvimento das competências inerentes ao grau de Mestre em Enfermagem.
Estas competências foram desenvolvidas no decorrer das unidades curriculares
teórico e teórico-práticas e na prestação de cuidados de enfermagem à pessoa em situação
crítica, tendo esta última, representado uma parte significativa de todo o percurso.
Os Ensinos Clínicos, iniciados em contextos direcionados à prestação de cuidados
à pessoa em situação crítica em unidades polivalentes, como o serviço de urgência e a
unidade de cuidados intensivos, foram, posteriormente, focalizados na prestação de
cuidados à pessoa portadora de doença oncológica em descompensação do seu estado
clínico, num serviço de atendimento não programado e num serviço de medicina intensiva
monovalente.
Embora a doença oncológica seja cada vez mais considerada como uma doença
crónica, a agressividade do tratamento oncológico e os efeitos iatrogénicos associados às
modalidades terapêuticas administradas, concomitantemente com a sobrevivência global
e respetivas comorbilidades, levam a que o doente oncológico esteja suscetível a períodos
de agudização, com necessidade de cuidados emergentes e vigilância e monitorização
contínua. A escolha desta área de intervenção e desenvolvimento de conhecimento,
prende-se, para além do interesse pessoal, com a vontade de aperfeiçoamento profissional
na área em que exerço a minha práxis.
Carried out as part of the 1st Master's course in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of the Person in Critical Situation of the consortium between the Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria and the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de São José de Cluny, this report aims to critically and reflectively describe the process of acquiring the common and specific competences of the Specialist Nurse, as well as the development of the competences inherent in the Master's degree in Nursing. These skills were developed during the theoretical and theoretical-practical curricular units and in the provision of nursing care to people in critical situations, the latter representing a significant part of the entire course. The clinical training, initiated in contexts aimed at providing care to people in a critical situation in multipurpose units, such as the emergency department and intensive care unit, were later focused on providing care to people with an oncological disease in decompensating of their clinical condition, in an unscheduled care service and in a monovalent intensive medicine service. Although oncological disease is increasingly considered a chronic disease, the aggressiveness of cancer treatment and the iatrogenic effects associated with the therapeutic modalities administered, concomitantly with overall survival and the respective comorbidities, mean that cancer patients are susceptible to periods of exacerbation of their clinical situation, with the need for emergent care and continuous surveillance and monitoring. The choice of this area of intervention and development of knowledge is linked, in addition to my personal interest, to the desire for professional development in my daily practice area.
