Abstract(s)
A questão orientadora do
estudo procurou identificar práticas seguras no transporte de crianças e avaliar as
competências e conhecimentos dos enfermeiros neste contexto específico. A metodologia
As conclusões focam
The general aim of this study was to investigate safe transport practices for children up to 18 kg by nurses in Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulances in Portugal, a topic of the utmost importance for nursing specializing in child and paediatric health. Guided by Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model, the theoretical framework focuses on how nursing interventions can contribute to child safety and care. The study's guiding question sought to identify safe practices in the transportation of children and to assess nurses' skills and knowledge in this specific context. The methodology adopted was a mixed approach, combining quantitative analysis of questionnaires. The data was processed through statistical analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, version 29.0.2.0) for the quantitative component and content analysis for the open-ended answers to the questionnaire. The results indicated that, despite the existence of welldefined protocols, the variability in practices still represents a significant challenge. The discussion of the data suggests that continuous training and the revision of protocols are fundamental to standardizing practices. The conclusions focus on the need for evidencebased training strategies to improve safety in pediatric emergency transport.
