Abstract(s)
O ponto de partida para este trabalho emergiu da reflexão acerca das realidades e vivências das crianças
e jovens cuja identidade de género não se conforma com o sexo biológico. Desta forma pretendeu-se
explorar o modo como crianças e jovens experienciam a vivenciam a sua realidade trans*, assim como
identificar os seus fatores de stress e proteção internos e externos. Ao mesmo tempo pretendeu-se
explorar a pertinência do Serviço Social na intervenção com estas crianças e jovens, assim como qual o
grau da emergência destas práticas em Portugal, lançando algumas pistas para uma intervenção do
Serviço Social mais afirmativa e desconstrutiva. A pertinência deste tema e trabalho explica-se por duas
vias: primeiro, devido à invisibilidade que estas crianças e jovens trans* têm na sociedade, tornando-se
necessário dar-lhes voz para que enfrentem as limitações impostas pelos sistemas cisheteronormativos;
em segundo lugar, e por se reconhecer as carências da investigação do Serviço Social na área de género,
mais predominantemente na área de género na infância e juventude, é necessário que se criem linhas de
orientação e conhecimento científico para uma melhor intervenção. A investigação assentou numa
metodologia qualitativa desenvolvida através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com recurso a guião, a 3
grupos diferentes de participantes: 2 profissionais de género em contexto LGBTIQ+; 4 assistentes que
já intervieram com crianças ou jovens trans*; e por fim 3 jovens trans*.Para a sistematização dos dados
procedeu-se à análise temática, segundo as propostas de Braun e Clarke (2006), tendo emergido cinco
temas: (i) experiências e vivências pessoais; (ii) fatores de perigo e proteção externos; (iii) atualidade
do Serviço Social; (iv) entraves, dilemas e dificuldades do Serviço Social; e por fim (v) urgências e
emergências do Serviço Social. Através deste temas é possível concluir que ainda existe uma grande
invisibilidade de crianças e jovens trans* por parte da sociedade, e que os sistemas e fatores família,
escola, políticas públicas, instituições de infância e juventude e Sistema Nacional de Saúde, são os
principais fatores de perigo, mas também de proteção destas crianças e jovens. Conclui-se também que
é emergente uma reciclagem daquilo que são as práticas e as ferramentas do Serviço Social afim de se
fornecer serviços inclusivos, afirmativos e não opressores. Este estudo vem trazer um conhecimento
mais aprofundado daquilo que são as vivências e fatores de perigo e proteção de crianças e jovens trans*,
e ainda perceber o longo caminho que o Serviço Social tem a percorrer, sugerindo assim a criação de
uma carta com linhas orientadoras para a intervenção com crianças e jovens trans*.
The starting point for this work emerged from the reflection about the realities and experiences of children and young people whose gender identity does not conform to their biological sex. This way we intended to explore how children and young people from 0 to 20 years of age experience their trans* reality, as well as identify their internal and external stress and protection factors. At the same time, we intended to explore the relevance of Social Work in intervening with these children and young people, as well as understanding the stage of emergence of these practices in Portugal, launching some clues for a more affirmative and deconstructive Social Work intervention. The relevance of this theme and work is explained in two ways: first, and due to the invisibility that these trans* children and young people have in society, it becomes necessary to give them a voice to face the limitations imposed by the cisheteronormative systems; secondly, and because the lack of Social Work research in the area of gender is recognized, more predominantly in the area of gender in childhood and youth, it is necessary to create guidelines and scientific knowledge for a better intervention. The research was based on a qualitative methodology developed through semi-structured interviews using a script, to 3 different population samples: 2 gender professionals in LGBTIQ+ context; 4 social workers who have already intervened with trans* children or youth; and finally, 3 trans* youth. For the systematization of the data, we proceeded to thematic analysis, according to Braun and Clarke's proposals (2006), having emerged five themes: (i) personal experiences and perceptions; (ii) external danger and protection factors; (iii) current situation of Social Work; (iv) obstacles, dilemmas and difficulties of Social Work; and finally (v) urgencies and emergencies of Social Work. Through these themes it is possible to conclude that there is still a profound invisibility of trans* children and youth in society, and that the systems and factors such as family, school, public policies, childhood and youth institutions and the Sistema Nacional de Saúde are the main factors of danger, but also of protection of these children and youth. It is also concluded that there is an emerging need for a recycling of Social Work practices and tools in order to provide inclusive, affirmative, and non-oppressive services. This study provides a deeper understanding of the experiences and danger and protection factors of trans* children and youth, as well as an understanding of the long way the Social Work has to go, suggesting the creation of a charter with guidelines for the intervention with trans* children and youth.
