Abstract(s)
Armas Combatentes do Quadro Permanente.
Abstract This Applied Research Work, entitled "Running and Orienteering in the formation of the future Officers of the Permanent Board: Implications for Subaltern Officers of Combatants Arms", aims to determine the contribution of running and orienteering for the development of the profile skills of the Subaltern Officer of Combatant Arms of the Permanent Board. Given the scope of the issue, the need emerged to define it. As such, this study is confined, to the decision-making process of the Subaltern Officer of Combatant Arms of the Permanent Board, and how running and orienteering encourages the development of this competence. As an instrument of data collection, a questionnaire was built, coupled with the Skills Profile and the process of decision making of the Subaltern Officer of Combatants Arms of the Permanent Board. This instrument was applied to Subaltern Officers of Arms Combatants of the Permanent Board and Students of Combatants Arms of the Military Academy, which included a total of 160 respondents. In general, the decision-making process of the Subaltern Combatants Arms of the Permanent Board is enhanced / developed by running and orienteering. As the data analysis shows, it appears that the Subaltern Officers of Combatants Arms of the Permanent Board practicing running and orienteering obtained a higher average score on the dimensions of the questionnaire of decision making, for Subaltern Officers of Combatants Arms of the Permanent Board that don’t practice the sport. The practice of the sport potentiates the following dimensions of decision making: "delivering mental simulations to choose a course of action"; "conceptual models of context"; “metacognition on the context". As corroborated by inquiries, this provides some relevance to the development of the Profile Skills of the Subaltern Officer, and in particular for Decision Making.
