Abstract(s)
Dele fazem parte os seguintes objetivos específicos: i) avaliar a
Resilience allows the overcoming of multiple difficulties throughout life, and the adaptation of people in a healthy way to their context, enabling them to deal positively with potentially harmful circumstances (Ralha-Simões, 2017). It assumes special importance in the aged, also because of its potential to prioritize people's health production (Vieira, 2016), and recognizing how challenging this stage of human development is, not only from a physiological and social point of view, but also psychological and existential ( Vieira, 2010). It is in this sense that the work “Resilience in Elderly People” emerges, with the objective of “designing a resilience education program to be implemented with elderly people who attend a Senior Education School - IHSénior.”. The following specific objectives are part of it: i) to evaluate the resilience in elderly people who attend the Senior School, through the application of the Adapted Resilience Scale for the Portuguese Adult Population; ii) identify the factors that the participants consider to be protective of their resilience; iii) analysis of the understanding of elderly people about human resilience and its relationship with health, during the educational intervention implemented. Its development presupposes the implementation of five educational sections in which topics such as human resilience (resilience as a process), risk factors and protective factors, self-esteem and perseverance, among others, related to resilience in the context of active and healthy aging are addressed. It is based on a mixed methodology, encompassing, in terms of data analysis, a quantitative approach, due to the application of the Resilience Scale adapted for a Portuguese Adult population of Deep & Pereira (2012), also articulated with the content analysis of the data obtained / registered through the classes. The expected results are discussed according to the theoretical framework of support used in the design of the program. As applicants Teixeira, Dias, Castro, Freitas and Araújo (2015) urge to deepen aspects such as resilience in the elderly, looking at their life contexts and seeking to better understand their adaptation to this phase of their lives. It is therefore considered pertinent and opportune the development of intervention programs that seek to maintain the resilient resources of the elderly, as well as the expansion of levels of knowledge about the area of resilience in human aging, to improve the quality of life and self-esteem of this population.
