Para um desempenho de sucesso dos militares da PE é necessário que estes reúnam
requisitos fundamentais, como seja uma formação inicial sólida, orientada e suficiente para o cumprimento das suas missões, assim como uma doutrina orientadora de base ajustada aos meios e capacidade do Exercito Português. Assim, pretende-se com este trabalho saber se os Oficiais de Cavalaria, segundo a sua formação inicial nos estabelecimentos de ensino e a sua doutrina de base, estarão aptos a desempenhar as suas funções como Oficiais PE.
Foi utilizada uma metodologia que incluiu uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental
sobre o tema, nomeadamente, manuais técnicos, artigos de jornais, revistas militares e endereços de Internet da doutrina internacional ligada à Polícia do Exército, recorrendo-se igualmente a entrevistas e contactos exploratórios a entidades com experiência pelas funções que desempenham.
No final deste trabalho chegou-se a algumas importantes conclusões, como sejam: a
doutrina que rege a PE mostra-se adequada ao bom cumprimento das missões por parte dos
seus oficiais; a formação inicial dos Aspirantes a Oficiais de Cavalaria mostra-se suficiente para garantir o total e pleno cumprimento das missões PE, sendo esta formação complementada no RL2 pelos oficiais que para esta unidade forem destacados; e por fim que a formação inicial e a doutrina de base, apesar de algumas restrições, abrangem e contemplam, respectivamente, todas as missões efectuadas pela PE.
Abstract For a successful performance of the Military Police is necessary that they meet basic requirements such as a solid initial instruction, and targeted enough to fulfill their missions, as well as a guiding doctrine of the means adjusted basis and capacity of the Portuguese Army. Thus, the aim of this work was whether the Cavalry Officers, according to their initial training in schools and its basic doctrine, will be able to perform their duties as a MP Officers. A methodology that included a documentary and bibliographical research on the topic, including technical manuals, newspaper articles, military magazines and Internet addresses linked to the international doctrine of Military Police, using equally to interviews and exploratory contacts with entities experienced by the functions they perform. Later this work came to some important conclusions, such as: the doctrine that governs the MP is adequate for the proper discharge of their duties by their Officer ; the initial instruction of Aspiring Cavalry Officers shows to be sufficient to ensure the full and entire discharge of their duties as MP, this training in MP headquarter complemented by officers for this unit are deployed, and finally that the initial training and basic doctrine, despite some restrictions, cover and include, respectively, all missions carried out by MP.
