Abstract(s)
Os festivais de música desempenham uma série de papéis importantes nas regiões onde se realizam, para além de funcionarem como atrações turísticas, contribuem para a criação da imagem da região e constituem-se como verdadeiros catalisadores de desenvolvimento local. Para que tal seja verificável todos os envolvidos, como a entidade organizadora e o próprio concelho, bem como a comunidade local, devem encontrar-se em sintonia e assumir uma perspetiva otimista e de cooperação para com estes eventos culturais e com os seus impactes. Tendo como foco o Festival MEO Sudoeste, realizado no concelho de Odemira, pretende-se com esta dissertação, analisar e perceber de que forma os festivais de música contribuem para o desenvolvimento económico, social e cultural dos locais onde se inserem. Neste sentido, procurou-se ao longo deste trabalho explicar o contributo do Festival para o desenvolvimento da região, em todos os aspetos, assim como perceber e analisar a existência de impactes na comunidade anfitriã do mesmo.
Com este trabalho foi possível perceber que o Festival em estudo, contribui para o desenvolvimento económico, político, cultural e social da região de Odemira e conhecer a opinião e perceção da comunidade local sobre o contributo e impactes do evento no seu concelho.
Music festivals play a series of important roles in the regions where they take place, although they work as tourist attractions they also contribute to the creation of the region’s image and act as true catalysts of local development. For that to happen, everyone involved, such as the organization entity and the county, as well as the local community, should be in sync and adopt an optimistic and cooperative perspective towards these cultural events and their impacts. This dissertation intends to analyze and understand how music festivals contribute to the political, economic, social and cultural development of the places where they are located, using as a case of study the MEO Sudoeste festival, held in the County of Odemira. In this sense, this work intends to explain the Festival’s contribution to the local development, across all aspects, as well as analyze the presence of impacts amongst the hosting community of the Odemira County. This dissertation not only showed that the festival under study, contributes to the economic, political, cultural and social development of Region of Odemira but also allows a better awareness to the local community’s opinion and perception of the event’s contributions and impact on their county.
