Abstract(s)
TrÔtase dun equipamento necesario, non so para o Concello, senón tamén
discapacitados do Baixo MiƱo (Vontade).
Deste TRABALLO DE PROXECTO destƔcanse dous aspectos fundamentais: a
parte social e a parte sustentable.
No primeiro caso, poténciase a relación usuario sociedade tendo en conta as
principais actividades económicas do entorno (relacionadas co cultivo de planta
ornamental).
Abstract: In this Dissertation Thesis, the author has chosen a āPROJECT WORKā on the field of Architecture. The scope of it is the creation of a Centre for Disabled People -physical or sensory- located in the area of A Rocha (TomiƱo). This building is of crucial need, not only for the council, but for the whole area around it. For this reason it will be occupied by the Disabled People Association Vontade, from Baixo MiƱo. A Rocha is an area located on a small hill in the core of the town of TomiƱo. It is a very busy area where many locals go due to the amount of services available (day centre, medical centre, local police office, cultural centre, etc.). This makes it possible that many visitors come along this place. One of the main issues about these centres is the lack of interaction between their users and the local people, in practice there is hardly any coexistence between users and employees. This shows an opposite direction of its vital aim: the full integration of disabled people. It is therefore crucial the implication of the local companies, those who set up more jobs. Among these companies, the most important one is the ornamental plants culture. There are two main points in this PROJECT WORK: the social part and the sustainable part. On the one hand, the relationship between user and society is boosted, bearing in mind the main business in the area (related to the ornamental plants culture). This is developed in the Centre to train the users, so that they can sell their own products to the public. Moreover, and taking into account the location of the Centre in an area full of public services which is really busy, there is also a cafĆ© and a big leisure area with gardens. The main aim of this is to make people visit the facilities and interact with the users. On the other hand, the Centre has some sustainable solutions adapted to its features and needs, like a structure designed with the concept of thermal mass, the use of rain for the irrigation system (garden and greenhouse), solar panels for the underfloor heating, the use of the facade materials to create electricity or the optimisation of lighting and natural ventilation by means of indoor patios with garden. The conception of the Centre is based on the principle of āUniversal Designā. This is crucial in a Centre for disabled people since the majority of the users are people with restricted mobility. With this system, they can move autonomously, safely and comfortably both in indoor and outdoor areas. Apart from accessibility, the stress was put in making it a highly functional building with a good lighting, so that the comfortability of the users can be improved.
