dc.description.abstractDesde a sua integração primordial no mercado de trabalho, as mulheres têm lutado pela igualdade de direitos e por quebrar barreiras impostas à sua plena participação no mercado laboral, barreiras essas que as impedem de exercer profissões que historicamente são atribuídas a homens, como é o caso do desempenho de cargos policiais. De facto, em Cabo Verde, apesar da evolução positiva que se tem vindo a verificar nas últimas décadas, ainda existe desigualdade no acesso à Polícia Nacional, motivada por questões de género. Neste contexto, pretendemos analisar qual o papel da mulher na Polícia Nacional de Cabo Verde, as principais dificuldades encontradas no seio da instituição e as principais motivações que as levam a ambicionar aceder a esta carreira, tema pouco abordado a nível da Polícia e sobre o qual é inexistente literatura. Assim, ao longo deste trabalho serão abordados vários assuntos relevantes para a contextualização do tema, tais como o princípio da igualdade, a luta pela igualdade de género em Cabo Verde, o enquadramento da mulher cabo-verdiana na educação, no emprego e na política e o contexto da atividade policial em Cabo Verde. Através da realização de entrevistas às primeiras mulheres que ingressaram na PN e a algumas mulheres civis relevantes para o estudo e da elaboração de um inquérito por questionário aos elementos femininos com funções policiais na PNCV, pretendemos com este trabalho dar resposta à problemática “Quais os contributos de efetivo policial feminino para a emancipação da mulher em Cabo Verde?”pt_PT
dc.description.abstractSince their primary integration into the labor market, women have been fighting for equal rights and breaking barriers imposed to their full participation in the labor market, barriers that prevent them from exercising professions that have historically been attributed to men, as it is the case of police activity. In fact, in Cape Verde, despite the positive evolution that has been verified in the last few decades, there is still inequality in access to the National Police, motivated by gender issues. In this context, we intend to analyze what is the role of women in the National Police of Cape Verde, the main difficulties found within the institution and the main motivations that lead them to aspire to access to this career, a topic that is rarely addressed by the Police and about which there is no found literature. Thus, throughout this work, various issues relevant to the contextualization of the theme will be addressed, such as the principle of equality, the struggle for gender equality in Cape Verde, the framing of Cape Verdean women in education, employment and politics and the context of police activity in Cape Verde. By conducting interviews with the first women who entered the NP and with some relevant civilian women for the study and by conducting a questionnaire survey of the female elements with police functions in the NPCV, we intend with this work to answer the research question “What are the contributions of female police officers for the emancipation of women in Cape Verde?”pt_PT
