Abstract(s)
Abstract:The modern health care brought health gains unprecedented new generations of patients and their families. We have found cures for incurable conditions and increased survival time with better quality of life. However, these achievements involve risk being one of the most important infection. This is an issue for which there are methods of study validated, with prevention crucial and should be one of the critical components of any program of patient safety. A major prevention and control based on compliance with best practice, including Hand Hygiene. In 2005 the World Health Organization launched the world a program of awareness of the importance of this issue, and Portugal joined, through the General Directorate of Health in 2008, with a campaign "clean care is a safer care" implemented in the various institutions providing care health. This work brings the implementation of this campaign in the emergency department of a hospital in the district of Setúbal. It should be noted that this work was conducted under the project methodology and includes steps Identification, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation. Initially, in order to prove the relevance of the project calculated the rate of adherence of nurses to practice hand hygiene, having been made 100 observations of nurses SUG. The membership fee resulting from these observations was 41%. From this result drew up the major objective of this project - to improve the quality of care provided under the control of infection in the emergency department. This goal, we outlined three specific objectives, as well as all the activities necessary to the operation of the project. The first was to provide nurses with training in Hand Hygiene, the second refers to the creation of an instrument alluding to the good practice and finally the implementation of the project.
