Nos últimos anos, por influência da sociedade atual, tem ocorrido um aumento significativo de distúrbios alimentares entre os jovens adultos. Estes distúrbios conduzem a inúmeras complicações a nível físico predominantemente na cavidade oral. Este trabalho tem como objetivo confirmar a importância que os Médicos Dentistas têm no tratamento e diagnóstico precoce destas patologias cujos sinais e sintomas ocorrem nas suas fases iniciais na cavidade oral. As manifestações orais mais comuns são erosão dentária, lesões de cárie, alterações ao nível das glândulas salivares bem como lesões na mucosa oral.
A revisão sistemática da literatura foi realizada com recurso a bases de dados, tais como, Medline, b-on, Pubmed, Cochrane Library, SciELO.
In recent years, due to the influence of actual society there has been a significant increase in eating disorders among young adults. These disorders lead to numerous complications, however, in addition to physically manifesting, like for example in the oral cavity. The dentists have the crucial role on screening oral symptoms. The most common effects of eating disorders on the oral cavity are tooth erosion, caries lesions, salivary glands changes as well as oral mucosa lesions. Systematic literature review will be performed using databases such as Medline, b-on, Pubmed, Cochrane Library, SciELO.
