Abstract(s)
“Smoke Out”.
As
A avaliação
Introduction: The World Health Organization considers smoking one of the biggest public health pandemics. The negative effects of tobacco are reflected in the health of populations, the planet and the economy. Smoking is one of the main preventable causes of non-communicable disease, contributing to the emergence of various morbidities and premature death. The younger population is more vulnerable to the effects of tobacco, either through the act of smoking or through exposure to environmental tobacco smoke. With Community Nursing playing a crucial role in primary prevention, it became pertinent to develop a community intervention project with the general objective of promoting healthy lifestyles, in the area of smoking prevention, among students in the 4th year of the 1st cycle of a Group of Schools in the area of influence of a UCC of the Regional Health Administration Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, I.P. Methodology: This was developed through the Health Planning methodology, based on Betty Neuman's systems theory. In the first stage, the situation was diagnosed using the “Smoke Out” questionnaire. The nursing diagnoses were selected: Deficit in knowledge about tobacco and Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke at home. The strategies used were based on health education, health communication, health marketing, health dissemination and playful learning. The final assessment demonstrated an improvement in children's knowledge levels about tobacco in general and about exposure to environmental tobacco smoke in particular. Conclusion: The community nursing intervention in the school environment with the involvement of parents and the educational community helped children in the 1st cycle of education avoid the effect of the stressor of tobacco (reinforcement of the flexible line of defense) and influence Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (reinforcement of the normal line of defense) in the study sample.
