A violência doméstica e a aproximação policial: uma nova (re)organização na vida

Abstract(s)
O flagelo da violência doméstica (VD) é um dos principais crimes registados pela Polícia
de Segurança Pública e apesar do muito trabalho que se tem feito, os números refletem que este
tipo de crime continua evidenciado, inclusive continuam a registar-se a morte de vítimas neste
contexto e uma das funções da polícia é preservar a segurança da vítima.
Assim, o presente estudo procurou investigar se os policias que trabalham com este tipo de crime,
nomeadamente os policias da proximidade e da investigação criminal conseguem contribuir para
a vítima se sentir mais segura ou, pelo menos, ter a perceção de maior segurança, e se esta
intervenção contribui para a vítima conseguir mais capacidade para iniciar um novo projeto de
vida sem violência.
Foi adotada uma abordagem qualitativa e tendo como base um guião semiestruturado,
foram realizadas 14 entrevistas a policias do Comando Distrital da Polícia de Segurança Pública,
que depois de transcritas compuseram o corpus, que foi submetido a análise de conteúdo.
Os resultados permitiram verificar que as principais preocupações dos policias foram sobre
a caracterização das intervenções policiais em violência doméstica e acerca da forma como veem
as vítimas de violência doméstica, nomeadamente os contributos que dão para a mudança do seu
projeto de vida, sem violência, além do cuidado que procuram ter no sentido de aumentar o
sentimento de segurança e proteção das vítimas.
Concluimos que, a grande preocupação dos polícias passa por promover a segurança das
vítimas.
The scourge of domestic violence (DV) is one of the main crimes recorded by the Public Security Police and despite all the work that has been done, the figures show that this type of crime continues to be evident, including the death of victims in this context and one of the police's roles is to preserve the victim's safety. Therefore, this study sought to investigate whether the police who work with this type of crime, namely the local police and criminal investigation officers, are able to contribute to the victim feeling safer or at least having a perception of greater safety, and whether this intervention contributes to the victim being better able to start a new life project without violence. A qualitative approach was adopted and, based on a semi-structured script, 14 interviews were carried out with police officers from the District Command of the Public Security Police, which, after being transcribed, made up the corpus, which was subjected to content analysis. The results showed that the police officers' main concerns were the characterization of police interventions in domestic violence and the way they see victims of domestic violence, namely the contributions they make to changing their life plan without violence, as well as the care they try to take to increase the victims' feeling of safety and protection. We conclude that the main concern of police officers is to promote the safety of victims
