A implantologia é uma área da medicina dentária que está em constante evolução.
O desenvolvimento de implantes e próteses implanto-suportadas são cada vez mais modernas, possibilitando a reabilitação das áreas edêntulas com mais êxito.
A reabilitação oral de pacientes com mandíbulas atróficas tem sido um problema desafiador para o médico dentista, pois geralmente estes vêm acompanhados de rebordos edêntulos e com uma reabsorção severa.
Deste modo, a utilização de implantes curtos é uma opção terapêutica cada vez mais utilizada por médicos dentistas especialistas na área de implantologia. Esta opção
terapêutica serve para evitar estruturas anatómicas e técnicas cirúrgicas mais complexas.
Estes podem ser inseridos pela técnica da carga imediata, isto é, pela colocação do
implante em carga no mesmo dia.
Contudo, os implantes curtos actualmente são uma boa alternativa para reabilitação da mandíbula com uma reabsorção vertical extrema, pois têm taxas de sucesso equiparadas aos implantes de tamanho “standard” (comprimento superior a 8 mm).
Esta revisão bibliográfica tem como objectivo estudar a reabilitação oral com implantes curtos com carga imediata em mandíbulas atróficas, esclarecendo as indicações e as suas limitações com recurso à bibliografia mais actual.
Implantology is an area of dentistry that is constantly evolving. The development of modern implant-supported prostheses allows the rehabilitation of edentulous areas to be more successful. The oral rehabilitation of patients with atrophic jaws has been a challenging problem for the dentist, usually accompanied by ridges and resorption. Thus, the use of short implants is a therapeutic option increasingly used by dental specialists in the field of implantology. This therapeutic option serves to avoid more complex anatomical structures and techniques. These are inserted by the immediate loading technique, that is, by placing the implant under load on the same day. However, short implants are currently a good alternative for extreme rehabilitation of the mandible with extreme vertical resorption, with rates equivalent to “standard” implants (length greater than 8 mm). This literature review aims to study oral rehabilitation with short goals with immediate loading in atrophic mandibles, raising as firm and as their most current immediate bibliographies.
