Abstract(s)
The present work was carried out within the scope of the Master in Business Sciences of the Escola Superior de Ciências Empresariales of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. This project, developed in a company in the steel sector, had as main objective to create a proposal to improve the GIapp-OC application, existing in the Cylinder Workshop to calculate the monthly consumption of cylinders, in order to provide greater support to management. The Cylinder Workshop is a functional area, belonging to the production department, which is responsible for carrying out the maintenance and management of equipment used in the various production lines. Many of the recorded data, referring to the operations carried out in this area, are still on paper, making their processing inoperative. This practice justifies the absence of performance indicators referring to the equipment and operation of the Cylinder Workshop, which creates additional difficulties in management control. After a review of the literature, referring to the topic under study, the current status was surveyed, using a qualitative research methodology focused on direct and indirect observation, following the process in person, as well as document analysis. To facilitate the visualization and understanding of the process, diagrams were drawn using BPMN notation, which make it possible to analyze and relate the various activities that make up the process. Based on the study carried out, the necessary performance indicators were identified, the calculation formulas were deducted and the data essential for their calculation were located. The final part of the project is dedicated to the conceptual development of the GIapp-OC application in order to respond to the numerous needs detected and allow the improvement of this management support tool. This development was carried out individually and the result is presented as an appendix, in the form of a Requirements Book, where all changes and development proposals are described
