Abstract(s)
Ergonomics has long ceased to be regarded merely as an academic discipline and is now recognized as a fundamental tool for fostering safe, comfortable, and productive work environments. Although administrative settings are often perceived as low-risk, several studies demonstrate that these workplaces may present physical, ergonomic, and psychosocial hazards with significant impacts on employees’ physical and mental health. This dissertation aims to identify, analyze, and mitigate occupational risks affecting the staff of the District Delegation of Setúbal of the Institute for Mobility and Transport, with a particular focus on preventing musculoskeletal disorders and enhancing productivity. The analysis highlights the need for targeted interventions, including the improvement of ergonomic conditions, optimization of lighting, implementation of regular breaks, and reduction of psychosocial factors such as stress and deadline pressure. The study seeks to provide practical recommendations to foster a safer and healthier workplace, aligned with occupational health and safety principles, while emphasizing the importance of a proactive and systematic approach to risk management in administrative environments. Ultimately, it underscores that workers’ well-being is a key element for both productivity and organizational sustainability
