This Final Internship Report was developed within the scope of the Professional Internship of the First Master’s Degree Programme in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing and reflects the pathway of developing specialist and master’s level competencies across different clinical practice settings. The guiding theme focused on pregnancy loss, considering its clinical, emotional, and relational complexity, as well as the significant impact it has on women, families, and healthcare professionals. Based on scientific evidence and supported by Betty Neuman’s Systems Model, this report includes a reflective analysis of the experiences lived and the interventions developed throughout this pathway, considering pregnancy loss as a stress-generating event that requires differentiated, humanised, and family-centred responses. Across the different clinical training contexts, needs for improvement were identified in the care provided to women and families experiencing pregnancy loss, as well as in professional support. Activities were therefore implemented to raise awareness, promote team reflection, develop support materials, and propose the standardisation of care. Simultaneously, it was possible to consolidate the technical, scientific, ethical, and relational competencies essential for the autonomous practice of the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, highlighting their role in therapeutic communication, emotional support, promotion of a healthy grieving process, and the humanisation of care in particularly vulnerable contexts. The importance of investing in continuous training, team support, and the existence of institutional guidelines promoting consistent and safe practices was also evidenced. It is concluded that this training pathway represented an opportunity for personal and professional growth, contributing to a more critical, reflective, and evidence-based clinical practice, while strengthening the quality of care provided to women and families experiencing pregnancy loss and the well-being of professionals throughout their practice.
