Abstract(s)
This master's thesis has as main objective to elaborate a model for delineation the business strategy under the perspective of complexity theory, for later verification of its suitability to a company in the telecommunications sector. In this sense, the introduction refers that the study and strategy of a company should always be the whole and the parts, and therefore not only the whole, not only the parts. The problem is that many of the companies currently continue to apply models developed in different times from the current one, and therefore with influence on results. Thus, the proposal to carry out the process of analysis, decision, and implementation of the business strategy from the perspective of complexity theory is relevant, as it applies to complex systems. For this, it was verified how companies can be considered complex and adaptive systems, in addition to assessing the relevance and added value of complexity theory application to business strategy. In this sense, a model of analysis, decision and implementation of the strategy based on complexity theory was elaborated based on the review literature. The study methodology is qualitative, embodying it in a case study at Altice Portugal and through interviews with the Executive President and the Director of Human Resources. I conclude that the Complexity Theory can be applied to companies, that its application to business strategy, has advantages over traditional models and that Altice Portugal mainly incorporates the principles/concepts of complexity theory.
