Eficácia da toxina botulínica na correção do sorriso gengival

| dc.description.abstract | Objetivos: Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a eficácia da aplicação de toxina botulínica (TxBo) na correção do sorriso gengival (SG) e efeito no lábio branco, em pacientes com mais de 2 mm de gengiva exposta em sorriso máximo, determinando se existem diferenças estatisticamente significativas na exposição gengival no sorriso máximo, no comprimento do lábio branco em repouso, bem como, entre os diferentes pontos do sorriso (central, lateral e canino) antes e depois da aplicação de TxBo. Por fim tem também como objetivo avaliar a satisfação do paciente após o tratamento. Materiais e métodos: Neste estudo foi feita a aplicação de TxBo no Ponto Yonsei e no lábio superior a oito pacientes, previamente selecionados que apresentavam SG ou linha do sorriso alta superior a 2 mm em sorriso máximo. Para registar as alterações foram feitas seis medições em sorriso máximo e três em repouso, com um paquímetro calibrado, assim como toda a documentação fotográfica das mudanças antes e após o tratamento. Posteriormente foi feita uma análise dos dados obtidos através do SPSS versão 29.0. Resultados: Foi realizado o teste t-student, tendo-se obtido diferenças estatisticamente significativa, nas diferenças entre as medições iniciais e finais, da distância entre o lábio superior e os dentes 13, 12, 11, 21, 22 e 23. Enquanto em repouso foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas no comprimento do lábio branco na zona da asa do nariz direita, o mesmo não ocorreu na base do nariz e na asa do nariz esquerda. Conclusões: O tratamento do SG com aplicação de TxBo no Ponto Yonsei e no lábio superior mostrou-se eficaz, tendo a capacidade de reduzir a contração dos músculos responsáveis pela elevação do lábio superior durante o sorriso, e consequentemente a diminuição da exposição gengival. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin (TxBo) application in the correction of gummy smile (GS) and the effect on the white lip, in patients with more than 2 mm of exposed gingiva at maximum smile, determining whether there are statistically significant differences in gingival exposure at maximum smile, in the length of the white lip at rest, as well as between the different points of the smile (central, lateral and canine) before and after the application of TxBo. Finally, it also aims to evaluate patient satisfaction after treatment. Materials and methods: In this study, TxBo was applied to the Yonsei Point and the upper lip of eight previously selected patients who presented GS or a smile line higher than 2 mm at maximum smile. To record the changes, firstly were taken, six measurements, at maximum smile and then three at rest, with a calibrated caliper, as well as all photographic documentation of the changes before and after treatment. Subsequently, an analysis of the data obtained was performed using SPSS version 29.0. Results: The Student's t-test was performed, and statistically significant differences were obtained between the initial and final measurements of the distance between the upper lip and teeth 13, 12, 11, 21, 22 and 23. While at rest, statistically significant differences were found in the length of the white lip in the area of the right nasal wing, the same did not occur at the base of the nose and the left nasal wing. Conclusions: The treatment of SG with application of TxBo at the Yonsei Point and the upper lip proved to be effective, having the ability to reduce the contraction of the muscles responsible for raising the upper lip during smiling, and consequently reducing gingival exposure. | pt_PT |
