Abstract(s)
Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) and bruxism are multifactorial conditions that are often interrelated and affect the temporomandibular joint, masticatory muscles, and associated structures. Both conditions have significant clinical, functional, and psychosocial impacts. Bruxism is recognized as a risk factor and perpetuator of TMD, and its complex interaction requires appropriate clinical management. Among the various therapeutic approaches available, occlusal splints stand out as a conservative strategy widely used in the treatment of both conditions. Despite their widespread use, scientific evidence on the effectiveness of splints remains heterogeneous. In this context, the present study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the literature on splints in the treatment of TMD and bruxism, with the aim of identifying research trends, main areas of interest, and scientific collaborations in the field. The results aim to provide support for evidencebased clinical practice and guide future lines of investigation.
