Abstract(s)
O presente relatório pretende descrever o trabalho desenvolvido no
Lisboa.
SWOT do Grupo Europcar. Concluiu-se que apesar de existir uma
forte concorrência no mercado rent-a-car, a Europcar consegue
The present report intends to describe the work developed in the ambit of the master’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management of the European University, being the result of a curricular internship accomplished in the General Accounting department that represents the country Germany, at Europcar Services Unipersonal Lda, in Lisbon. This had a duration of 296 hours and, due to the pandemic situation caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19), it was mostly carried out in a teleworking context. The internship had the objective of integrating in the General Accounting department of an international company, leader in the European rent-a-car market. During the internship, I acquired both theoretical and practical knowledge about commercial accounting and bank accounting, and I gained an introduction to the software used in the rent-a-car market and the accounting program Oracle Financials. I was involved in activities that are inherent to an accounting department, namely, bank reconciliations, preparation of bank statements for posteriorly posting them in the accounting system, processing the bank statements in the accounting system, among other activities that will be described in this report. As for methodology used to create the present report, it was used the secondary data and participant observation, followed by a competition analysis, SWOT analysis and a correlation analysis of the Europcar Group's SWOT Matrix. It was concluded that despite the existence of strong competition in the rent-a-car market, Europcar manages to differentiate itself from its competitors through a strong investment in technologies, innovative and differentiating products, covering the main market levels of this industry, and occupying a unique and central position in the mobility ecosystem. Lastly, although Europcar Services Unipessoal Lda presents an outstanding work organization, it was possible to find some gaps in the implemented procedures of the company, presenting afterwards a value proposal with some suggestions for improvements that were considered relevant for a more efficient functioning of the procedures performed in the General Accounting department of the entity.
