No entanto, estudos
No entanto, estudos
aproximá-lo do público geral, procurar-se-á representar
ajudar o público, jovem e adulto, a compreender,
The available means of communication and commercialisation by the music industry have allowed music to reach a global audience over the last two centuries. Music, which was previously only available to certain social classes, is now consumed by anyone who wants to access it. Nevertheless, studies suggest that, in the 21st century, while certain styles of music are increasing in popularity, classical music has experienced a sharp drop in sales and streams, especially among the younger population. Among the main reasons for this decline is the fact that many people perceive this style of music as highly complex and that they need to have prior musical knowledge to appreciate it. However, studies have shown that listening to this type of music brings numerous benefits, both cognitively and in terms of listeners' health and well-being. Therefore, in order to see if design can overcome this obstacle and increase the willingness to listen to this style of music, bringing it closer to the general public, this project will attempt to represent auditory stimuli - specifically, classical musical compositions - through visual pieces, based on colour, shapes and textures, interconnecting them with the formal components of music, such as rhythms, dynamics, timbres and others. This tool seeks, after evaluation, namely through interviews, to help the public, both the young and the mature, to visually understand the progression and general feeling of the musical piece, even without having to listen to it in its entirety, and thus to encourage greater understanding and the development of positive attitudes towards this genre, ultimately allowing them to choose the pieces that best suit their preferences, even without prior musical knowledge.
