| dc.description.abstract | O tema do presente trabalho relaciona-se com o papel do cuidador, quer em relação à pessoa dependente, quer como a legislação o reconhece. Neste sentido, mais do que uma mera enumeração dos tipos de cuidador e a importância do seu papel, visa-se a perceção da importância do papel do cuidador informal, para a pessoa dependente como para a sociedade. Tendo em conta a finalidade referida, analisam-se os perigos associados ao processo de cuidar, os aspetos positivos de cuidar e o reconhecimento legal do cuidador informal, com as devidas críticas e conceções defendidas pela literatura. A questão da Ética e da Deontologia na área da Gerontologia, deve ser referida de forma persistente na criação de um Código Deontológico que regule as práticas profissionais e responda aos dilemas no exercício profissional do Gerontólogo Social. Conclui-se que, apesar da notória preocupação estadual em relação ao cuidador informal, esta fica um pouco aquém do esperado para proteger verdadeiramente este cidadão que dispôs de si em relação a outro. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The theme of this present work is relating to the role of the carer, both in relation to the dependent and the relevant legislation. More than just giving a list of types of carer my aim was to give an understanding of the role of the informal carer and their importance to the dependent and to society as a whole. I have analysed the dangers associated with the care process, its positive aspects and its legal obligations. The question of Ethics and Deontology in the area of Gerontology, should be persistently referred to the creation of a Deontologic Code that regulates the professional practices and answers the dilemmas that occur in the professional practice of Social Gerontology. In conclusion, despite our government’s concerns and promises in relation to the informal carer, I feel there is so far to go to protect them. These are people who have often dedicated their lives and neglected their own personal ambitions in order to care for a family loved one and must be held in the greater esteem they deserve. | pt_PT |
