This quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive–correlational study assessed mental health, mental well-being, coping, help-seeking, and mental health literacy in 253 newly graduated officers of the Public Security Police. Findings indicated an overall non-clinical profile, with low levels of psychological distress (assessed by the DASS-21). Notably, 83.4% of participants were classified as flourishing in terms of well-being, with social well-being emerging as the most vulnerable dimension. Adaptive coping strategies (planning and active coping) predominated, while attitudes toward help-seeking were moderately favourable. However, engagement in operational duties was associated with increased psychological distress (stress, anxiety, and depression) and lower social well-being. It is concluded that the onset of professional practice constitutes a predictable period of risk, and the implementation of structured early interventions is recommended, focusing on the promotion of mental health, enhancement of social well-being, and secure, confidential pathways to support.
