Abstract(s)

The document aims to: Highlight the acquisition and development of common skills of the Specialist Nurse and specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the care of People in Critical Situations; Present the results of the literature review carried out, a crucial activity for obtaining master's skills. The development and acquisition of the respective skills took place in an academic context and through specialized clinical practice, namely in a Multipurpose Intensive Medicine service, in a Multipurpose Emergency Department, and finally the optional internship, carried out in the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira, respectively in the Rapid Intervention Medical Team and on the Telephone Triage and Counseling service of the Integrated Communications Center, and on the Immediate Life Support team, and Medical Emergency Line and on Air Evacuation Unit. The different contexts of specialized clinical practice in the pre-hospital context demonstrate the broad scope of action of the Specialist Nurse, with a view to achieving the best results when transporting a Person in a Critical Situation. Therefore, it is essential to understand the transportation of Persons in Critical Situations, their risks, variables and components. Through a descriptive, analytical and reflective methodology, alluding to the teaching and practical contexts, the aim is to demonstrate the result of the journey undertaken, namely in caring for people in critical situations, families and/or caregivers experiencing processes of critical illness and/or organic failure; in streamlining the response in emergency, exceptional and catastrophic situations; in maximizing intervention in the prevention and control of infection and antimicrobial resistance; and in acquiring and developing master skills.
