Abstract(s)
The liver is an organ of vital importance and whose physiology influences innumerable processes in human health. Therefore, patients with hepatic insufficiency present themselves as a risk group for performing oral surgical procedures. Thus, the oral surgeon should ensure increased care before, during and after the surgical treatment. The clinician’s in-depth knowledge about this condition is crucial for successful treatment of these patients. Although there is not yet much scientific evidence available about oral surgery in patients with hepatic insufficiency, the medical community is increasingly emphasising the importance of the dental treatment in these patients. In this manner, the present dissertation aims to elucidate the most appropriate way to deal with patients with hepatic insufficiency, taking into account their medical conditions. A bibliographic research was carried out using the PubMed electronic database with the following keywords: “hepatic insufficiency”, “oral surgery”, “hemostasis”, “hepatotoxicity”
