Abstract(s)

According to the results obtained it is verified that the elderly felt supported in the various dimensions of social support, whether it was informational, emotional or instrumental support. However, there were significant differences between men and women in instrumental support. Males had a statistically higher average in relation to females. It is concluded that the majority of these elderly people seek help and obtain a response through an extended social support network (formal and informal).
