Abstract(s)
Abstract The undertaken research focus on the field of organizational behavior and has as underlying theme The military’s motivations to access and remain in the Public Order Intervention Group. It involves a triple objective: to establish a relationship between the military’s motivations to access and remain in this subunit, to characterize the current situation of Public Order Intervention Group in motivational terms and to make a comparison between what is valued by the military and the experimental reality of this subunit. This work is divided in two fundamental parts. The first corresponds to the theoretical framework and research methodology, presenting an approach to the issue of motivation and the methodological way adopted. The second, related to the fieldwork developed, includes the presentation, analysis and discussion of results. The hypothetical deductive method is the guideline of this experimental research. Given the sample size selected, the questionnaire was the prefered technique for data collection. As far as the processing of information, a quantitative and qualitative analysis (content analysis) was chosen due to the existence of closed and open questions. The fieldwork results show there is a disparity between the degree of importance attributed by respondents to the motivational factors proposed and the experience of Public Order Intervention Group in reality . It is the basis for current lower levels of motivation when compared with the same in the time of admission in this subunit. As main conclusions, it can be said that there is a need for intervention by the command at the facilities of this subunit, the overwork and military commitment, areas that have shown deficient in these military’s perception and, if improved, would greatly contribute to increase their levels of motivation.
