Abstract(s)
A análise
The United Nations (UN) emphasizes the importance of the sustainable development of peoples and the world, as we know them today, and for the real risk of collapse of our planet, if sustainability measures are not implemented. The tourism sector, and in particular the hotel industry, does not seem to be oblivious to this importance, either because of the importance that the concept of sustainability represents in the preservation of the resources on which its activity is based, or because of the increasing demand from consumers regarding responsibility companies in the same area. In this sense, it is the objective of this dissertation, through a qualitative approach focused on the case study, to understand and evaluate the impacts of the implementation of the concept of sustainable management in one of the hotels in the city of Lisbon. The analysis and discussion of the results made it possible to perceive sustainability as the main motivation in the design of this project and to validate the results obtained in comparison with the authors studied. Results presented in three blocks of significance, Hotel Concept, Sustainability – Motivations and Barriers; Contributions and Impacts, and Sustainability Marketing – Practices and Relevance to the business; Customer Perception (from the point of view of the study target). The results suggest that the sustainable management model implemented is in line with the best sustainability practices, based on a constant concern with the balance of the social, environmental and economic pillars that support the concept. The results also suggested that there is a greater emphasis given to the environmental pillar, and that the concept of sustainability influences the sale of the hotel without, however, being possible to measure its weight or compare in terms of factors such as price and location.
