Abstract(s)
Adotar um animal de um abrigo ajuda a salvar mais do que uma vida. Ao adotar, as pessoas ajudam a libertar espaço no abrigo, dando espaço para resgatar outros animais. Adotar um animal significa que as pessoas estão a receber um animal de estimação que recebeu cuidados médicos adequados no abrigo. Neste estudo, foi desenvolvida uma aplicação móvel com o objetivo de realizar atividades relacionadas com abrigos de animais e a sua adoção de maneira mais eficaz e fácil, assim como ajudar as pessoas em todo o processo que antecede e sucede a adoção, nomeadamente com questões relacionadas com informação necessária e relevante sobre ter um animal, como também fazendo a ponte com serviços relevantes como hospitais, hotéis, lojas, treino e treinadores, etc. O sistema consiste em duas principais componentes: um servidor web e uma aplicação móvel. A localização do abrigo de animais, informações sobre o abrigo, dados sobre funcionários e animais registados podem ser inseridos neste sistema. A gestão de dados foi realizada independentemente da aplicação por meio do servidor web. A parte da aplicação móvel deve ser desenvolvida para os sistemas operacionais Android e iOS. A aplicação terá a possibilidade de recorrer a serviços de localização, incluindo a seleção de cidades, distritos, e abrigos de animais, lojas, clínicas, hotéis bem como outros serviços em cada região. Assim, as atividades necessárias relacionadas aos abrigos temporários de animais podem ser realizadas de forma mais eficaz e fácil.
Esta solução deverá permitir aos abrigos de animais publicar animais para adoção e usar o sistema para melhorar a sua visibilidade para possíveis interessados em adotar, que atendam aos requisitos para adoção e que sejam uma combinação perfeita para cada animal. Assim como deverá facilitar o processo para todos os interessados, ao ser sugerido, a cada indivíduo, um conjunto de animais que melhor se deverão adequar a tal perfil.
O estudo utilizou o tipo de pesquisa de desenvolvimento descritivo e administrou dois conjuntos de questionários. Por um lado, entrevistámos proprietários de abrigos de animais para comprovar a necessidade e utilidade da aplicação em Portugal. Por outro lado, desenvolvemos um questionário tanto para proprietários de animais de estimação quanto para pessoas que não têm animais de estimação, para comprovar o quão útil uma aplicação deste tipo seria para cuidar melhor dos seus animais e encontrar o animal perfeito para aqueles que desejam adotar. Frequência, percentagem simples e média ponderada foram usadas para analisar os dados recolhidos. O estudo revelou que as pessoas estavam muito entusiasmadas com este serviço e concordaram que o sistema era muito útil e acessível para uso na adoção de animais de estimação.
In this study, a mobile application was developed with the aim of facilitating activities related to animal shelters and their adoption in a more efficient and user-friendly manner. Additionally, it assists individuals throughout the entire adoption process, including providing essential and relevant information about pet ownership, and bridging the gap with relevant services such as hospitals, hotels, stores, training, and trainers, among others. The system comprises two main components: a web server and a mobile application. Shelter location, shelter information, employee details, and registered animal data can be input into this system. Data management was independently performed through the web server application. The mobile application part needed to be developed for both Android and iOS operating systems. The application is location-based, including the selection of provinces, districts, animal shelters, stores, clinics, hotels, and other services. Consequently, necessary activities related to temporary animal shelters can be conducted more efficiently and effortlessly. Adopting an animal from a shelter helps save more than one life. By adopting, individuals assist in freeing up space in the shelter, allowing for the rescue of more animals. Adopting an animal means that people are acquiring a pet that has received proper medical care. This study aimed to develop a web and mobile application that would enable animal shelters to post animals for adoption. Using the system helps them search for potential adopters who meet the adoption requirements and are a perfect match for each animal. The study employed the descriptive development research type and administered two sets of questionnaires. On one hand, shelter owners were interviewed to verify the need and usefulness of the application in Portugal. On the other hand, a questionnaire was developed for both pet owners and non-pet owners to assess how useful this application would be for better pet care and finding the perfect animal for those wishing to adopt. Frequency, simple percentage, and weighted average were used to analyze the collected data. The study revealed that people were very enthusiastic about this service and agreed that the system was highly capable and user-friendly for pet adoption purposes.
