Abstract(s)
Due to the life expectancy and aged people raise, having in consideration the active population, it’s necessary to work so this generation can keep autonomous and independent as possible, promoting active aging. This is one of rehabilitation nursing specialist intervention areas. Falls frequently occur on aged people and are the third most common chronic incapacity cause, leaving them debilitated and making difficult their independence. The control and prevention of old men’ falls must be present on health policies so the active aging can be assured. Portuguese health policies are based on improving Population’s health by implementing health schemes where each person is the main element of focus when creating these policies. Rehabilitation Nursing follows this premise with rehabilitation nurses being the bridge between what people need, society’s alterations and the surroundings, expanding and integrating it. Thus, it was previously elaborated an internship project that has activities that were developed for acquiring rehabilitation nursing specialist’s skills, under aged people’s falls in the community, this being one of the World Health Organization’s priority areas for healthy aging. The main objective of this internship report it’s to reflectively analyze the acquisition of general nursing specialist’s skills and specific rehabilitation nursing specialist’s skills under hospital and community internship. The theorical reference used to support this report and the interventions’ plan is based on Dorothea Orem theory of self-care deficit since self-care it’s the focus and result of health promotion, this being the development main aspect and experience gain as an Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist and this theory being the support of my Nursing thoughts.
