Abstract(s)
The practice of perioperative nursing holds a philosophy that simultaneously associates the mission of the institution with values and beliefs of the professional itself, with the focus of attention always the caring for the sick person. With the mission of ensuring and making available to the person who undergoes surgical or invasive procedures that lack anesthesia, a high specificity nursing care, the perioperative nurse adopts several functions throughout its performance. In this context emerges the nurse coordinator of transplantation who, having a leadership role, provides an integral vision of the procedure in question. Starting with the question "What is the relevance of the coordinating nurse in lung transplantation?", we performed a review of the literature related to the nursing leadership theme and the role of the coordinating nurse for lung transplantation, describing the coordination procedure during the transplantation. Through the description of the experiences acquired in the context of the internship and the role of the nurse coordinator of lung transplantation, we hope to be able to give greater emphasis to this function that is of vital importance for the success of the procedure and to ensure quality of care and safety, not only to the sick person but also to the giver. There are not many studies that describe the coordination process carried out by nurses during transplantation. It is necessary to invest in the visibility of the different functions performed by nurses, especially by perioperative nurses. In a society where most of our perioperative interventions often develop behind the scenes, it becomes important to make visible a role that was previously invisible. Our reality lacks more evidence of the care we provide and of the different aspects we carry out during our daily activities. With this literature review and the brief description of the procedure we hope to clarify the experience of the coordinating nurses at a time of changes in the nursing career.
