| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: O lábio leporino está entre as mais comuns malformações congénitas da região craniofacial dentro do grupo de fendas orofaciais conhecidas. Estas alterações morfológicas atingem o terço médio e inferior da face, sendo ocasionadas pela falha na fusão dos processos embrionários entre a 4ª e a 12ª semana de gestação. Podem ser classificadas como sindrómicas, quando associadas a síndromes, ou não sindrómicas, resultantes de uma condição multifatorial com influência ambiental e genética. Relativamente às alterações ao nível da cavidade oral frequentemente associadas ao lábio leporino, podemos incluir anomalias dentárias tais como: agenesia dentária, erupção ectópica, atraso na erupção, dentes supranumerários, impactação dentária, problemas periodontais e hipoplasia do esmalte. Objetivos: A presente revisão pretende avaliar e abordar novos conhecimentos sobre o lábio leporino e as suas consequentes alterações ao nível da cavidade oral. Tentamos ainda realçar a importância do odontopediatra no diagnóstico precoce e no apoio dos pais e da criança portadora desta malformação. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, utilizando os artigos científicos disponíveis nos motores de busca PubMed, Cochrane, B-on, Google Scholar, Scielo, web of Science e do acervo bibliográfico do IUEM. Conclusão: Podemos concluir que o lábio leporino pode desencadear alterações não só a nível dentário, mas também comprometer a fala, a audição, a estética, a nutrição e a autoestima do indivíduo. É então essencial o bom funcionamento de uma equipa multidisciplinar, na qual se inclui o odontopediatra, para o completo estabelecimento da saúde oral e geral do paciente. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The cleft lip is among the most common congenital malformations of the craniofacial region within the group of known orofacial clefts. These morphological alterations affect the middle and lower thirds of the face, being caused by the failure in the fusion of embryonic processes, between the 4th and 12th week of gestation. They can be classified as syndromic, when associated with syndromes, or non-syndromic, resulting from a multifactorial condition with environmental and genetic influence. Regarding the changes in the oral cavity frequently associated with cleft lip, we can include dental anomalies such as: tooth agenesis, ectopic eruption, delayed eruption, supernumerary teeth, dental impaction, periodontal problems and enamel hypoplasia. Objectives: The present review aims to evaluate and provide new knowledge about the cleft lip and its consequent changes in the oral cavity. We also intended to emphasize the importance of the pediatric dentist in the early diagnosis and in the support of parents and children with this malformation. Materials and Methods: A bibliographic research was conducted, using scientific articles available in the search engines PubMed, Cochrane, B-on, Google Scholar, Scielo, web of Science and the IUEM bibliographic collection. Conclusion: We can conclude that the cleft lip can trigger changes not only at the dental level, but also compromise speech, hearing, aesthetics, nutrition and the individual's self-esteem. The proper functioning of a multidisciplinary team, which includes the pediatric dentist, is therefore essential for the complete establishment of the patient's oral and general health. | pt_PT |
