Abstract(s)
operar.
These days, competitiveness and growth are watchwords for every company’s improvement, and that's where investment in differentiating factors is crucial to the success of the organization. However, topics such as planning and profitability are on the table on a day-to-day basis, so the concern is constant regarding factors such as sales and order forecasting, efficient stock rotation and factory service capacity. In this context, the present project aims to demonstrate, with concrete and real data, the improvements that the implementation of a new order forecasting strategy has caused in the stock management of the company where the strategy was implemented and, thus, improve the capacity to respond to all actions and promotional campaigns that the company focuses on. The implementation of the new solution is also evaluated, analyzing the effectiveness of the new model for manage stocks and sending orders to the factory compared to the previous scenario. It is concluded that the new model has proven to be adequate to the company's objectives, reducing the differences between the predicted and actual ordered quantities, resulting from changes in the market and also, from failures in the factory's ability to meet the orders sent. The results achieved in Portugal with the implementation of the model described here, have encouraged the company to implement the new model in other countries where it operates.
