Num mundo globalizado onde o fluxo migratório internacional se verifica permanentemente, surgem culturas e grupos minoritários, no interior dos países, que necessitam de ser integrados e de se relacionar com a cultura receptora. A multiculturalidade deve ser aceite e tolerada, mas pode-se porventura, ir além desta aceitação e tolerância, o objectivo será retirar benefícios da interacção das diferentes culturas.
A diversidade das sociedades é alvo de preocupação por parte da tutela política, pelo que deve sê-lo também por parte da Polícia de Segurança Pública. Pretende-se continuar a aproximação aos cidadãos, verificada com a implementação do Programa Integrado de Policiamento de Proximidade (PIPP), pensando contudo, um policiamento adequado às mudanças estruturais da sociedade, que melhore a interacção entre a Polícia e os cidadãos de grupos minoritários.
In a globalized world where international migration takes place permanently, there are cultures and minority groups within countries, which need to be integrated and to relate to the receiving culture. Multiculturalism must be accepted and tolerated, but one can perhaps go beyond acceptance and tolerance, and aim to acquire benefits from the interaction of different cultures. The diversity in societies is the main target of the concerned of the political tutelage, as it is also to the Polícia de Segurança Pública. We intend to continue to engage in the process of correlating police with citizens, with the implementation of the Programa Integrado de Policiamento de Proximidade (PIPP). The primary objective is to obtain adequate policing always underlining the structural changes in society, and also to improve the interaction between police and citizens of minority groups.
