Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação analisa o potencial da aplicação da Inteligência Artificial no
processo de limpeza dos dados do Sistema Estratégico de Informação da Polícia de
Segurança Pública, com foco na procura de soluções para problemas relacionados com a
duplicação de dados. Para atingir o objetivo central, procurou-se perceber como uma
ferramenta, baseada em algoritmos inteligentes, pode auxiliar na identificação e fusão de
registos semelhantes. Foi também analisada a perceção dos polícias que lidam
diretamente com os sistemas informáticos e o volume de informações, sobre a pertinência
e vantagens da aplicação desta tecnologia, através de uma investigação por questionário.
Os resultados indicam que a utilização desta ferramenta em processos de limpeza de
dados apresenta um potencial significativo para aumentar a precisão dos dados e reduzir
o tempo gasto em tarefas repetitivas, permitindo uma redistribuição mais eficiente dos
recursos existentes. Foi ainda possível perceber que os polícias inquiridos percecionam a
informação como um ativo valioso para a polícia, reconhecem a necessidade de
eliminação de itens duplicados no sistema e consideram muito vantajoso a adoção de uma
ferramenta capaz aumentar a automatização deste processo de limpeza. Em suma, esta
investigação conclui que a adoção desta ferramenta constitui uma oportunidade
estratégica valiosa para a modernização tecnológica, contribuindo significativamente
para uma maior capacidade de gestão da informação e, consequentemente, uma maior
capacidade na tomada de decisão.
This dissertation analyses the potential of applying artificial intelligence to the data cleaning process of the Public Security Police's Strategic Information System, with a focus on finding solutions to problems related to data duplication. To achieve the central objective, the study investigated how a tool, based on intelligent algorithms, can help identify and merge similar records. In addition, the perception of police officers who deal directly with informatic systems and the volume of information on the relevance and advantages of applying this technology was analysed using a questionnaire investigation. The results indicate that the use of this tool in data cleaning processes has significant potential to increase data accuracy and reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks, allowing for a more efficient redistribution of the available resources. It was also possible to see that the police officers surveyed perceive information as an asset for the police, recognise the need to eliminate duplicate items in the system and consider it very beneficial to adopt a tool capable of increasing the automation of this cleaning process. In short, this research concludes that the adoption of this tool is a valuable strategic opportunity for technological modernisation, contributing significantly to greater information management capacity and, consequently, better decision-making capacity.
