dc.description.abstractCom a privatização de algumas funções de segurança, emergem no mercado nacional as empresas de segurança privada. O seu impacto na economia e na sociedade é elevado devido ao volume de negócios por si gerado e à sua capacidade de criar emprego. A actividade de segurança privada é, contudo, susceptível de interferir com os direitos fundamentais dos cidadãos, motivo pelo qual o seu licenciamento e fiscalização devem obedecer a rigorosos requisitos. A Polícia de Segurança Pública assumiu em 2007 as competências de licenciamento e fiscalização em matéria de segurança privada que até então estavam atribuídas à Secretaria-Geral do Ministério da Administração Interna. A actividade de licenciamento e fiscalização foi transitoriamente exercida pelo Departamento de Operações da Direcção Nacional da PSP, até que o Departamento de Segurança Privada (formado em Maio de 2008) e os respectivos núcleos estivessem completamente operacionaispt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe privatization of some security functions has resulted in the emergence of a large number of private security companies in the national market. The impact on the economy and society is high due to the turnover generated and the ability to create jobs. The private security industry, however, could interfere with the fundamental rights of citizens, so the licensing and supervision of these companies must be subject to strict legal requirements. Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) took over the powers of supervision and licensing for private security exclusively in 2007. This was previously the responsibility of the Secretaria-Geral of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Inspection and licensing activities were temporarily held by the Departamento de Operações of the National Direction of the PSP, until the Departamento de Segurança Privada (formed in May 2008) and it services were fully functional.pt_PT
