Abstract(s)
Os jovens continuam a acorrer em grande número ao chamamento da carreira
militar. A sua opção por esta carreira deve-se à garantia de emprego, ou é mesmo a
vocação e gosto pela carreira militar? Será que os jovens têm noção do que vão fazer e
do que a vida militar lhes vai exigir, ou vão apenas em busca de uma aventura?
O objectivo deste trabalho é tentar descobrir se os jovens ingressam nas Forças
Armadas a pensar num emprego seguro e no respectivo salário – trazendo para o
contexto militar valores e orientações predominantes no mercado de trabalho da vida
civil, que não correspondem aos valores militares – e qual o impacto que esse ingresso
poderá ter na estrutura das Forças Armadas.
O modelo de análise baseou-se na pergunta de partida: “Em que medida a crise
vocacional dos jovens face à carreira militar pode afectar a estrutura das Forças
Armadas?”
A recolha de dados conducentes à testagem das hipóteses levantadas, incluiu
entrevistas exploratórias ao Director do Centro de Recrutamento da Força Aérea
(CRFA) e a um elemento do Centro de Psicologia da Força Aérea (CPSIFA), a
inquirição, por questionário, de todos os candidatos chamados a prestar provas no
CRFA durante os meses de Janeiro e Fevereiro de 2010, e inquirição, também por
questionário, a chefes de vários serviços do Comando Aéreo e das Unidades na sua
dependência, que têm sob o seu comando jovens militares da mesma faixa etária dos
jovens candidatos à Força Aérea Portuguesa (FAP).
Posteriormente, foram avaliadas todas as respostas dadas pelos jovens
candidatos e as respostas dadas pelos chefes de serviço, sobre o que estes acreditam ser
a forma de pensar dos jovens militares. Esta análise pretendeu verificar se os valores e
os princípios defendidos, quer pelos jovens candidatos quer pelos jovens militares, são
os mesmos, e em que medida isso poderá ter impacto na estrutura militar.
Por fim faz-se a conclusão e são apresentadas algumas recomendações para que
o presente trabalho possa ter utilidade. Abstract: Young people continue to answer positively to the call for the military career.
Their choice for this career is it a way to guarantee a job in the near future or is it a true
vocation and passion by the military career? Are they aware of what they are going to
do and of what is expected from them or are they just looking for some adventure?
The aim of this work is to acknowledge if young people chose to go to the army
in order to guarantee a job and the corresponding salary – bringing in the military
context some values and orientations of the market that are far from the military values
– and what may be the impact of this in the structure of the army.
The analysis method used is based on a starting question: “How will the
vocational crises of young people towards the military career affect the structure of the
army?”
The data collected to test the risen hypothesis was gathered through interviews
to the Director of Center of Conscription of the Air Force (CRFA) and to a professional
of the Center of Psychology of the Air Force (CPSIFA), the inquiry, by a written
questionnaire, to all candidates tested at CRFA during January and February 2010, and
the inquiry, also by a written questionnaire, to some commanding officers who have
responsibility towards young military soldiers of about the same age as the candidates to
the Portuguese Air Force (FAP).
Afterwards, all the answers given by the candidates as well as the ones given by
the commanding officers, about the way young soldiers think, were evaluated.
Subsequently, a comparative analysis was realized to understand if there were any
changes as far as the thinking and behavior of young candidates were concerned, after
they have being submitted to the learning within the military school, and what would be
the resultant impact upon the structure of the army.
Finally, a conclusion is presented as well as some recommendations in order to
implement this research.
