Abstract(s)
The project “O Coelhinho Multicor” aspires to bring back traditional Portuguese tales, which over time tend to fall into oblivion. The solution suggested in this paper combines traditional stories with new technologies, encouraging and enticing both children and parents to engage with the project and therefore cultivate the value this aspect of Portuguese culture. Due to the author’s personal interest on the fictional world of fantasy, it was decided to appeal to imagination, creativity, and autonomy of children who are small human beings themselves. Children, free of preconceived ideas and visual regulation, have been involved not only in the creative process of the project but also been given the decisive role in its conclusion. The final product consists of the prototyping of three characters in the form of white dolls, which appeal to the creative side of the child who paints them. The characters presented are part of the cast of the story “The White Bunny”, by Francisco Adolfo Coelho. The visual concept they represent intends not only to be applied further in other stories, which is presupposed by its possibility of exploring new applications for itself, but also to uplift the project to other levels. This practical component was, at the same time, accompanied by a theoretical component, based on the subjects, objects, and concepts surrounding the project, which supported the ideas and objectives applied in the process.
