| dc.description.abstract | As narrativas tĂȘm uma profunda influĂȘncia nas sociedades humanas como expressĂŁo natural da lĂngua e da cultura e como formadoras de atitudes. Na sociedade tecnolĂłgica em que vivemos Ă© inevitĂĄvel a fusĂŁo destes dois mundos, o das estĂłrias e o da tecnologia, que se reflete em algo novo, que combina o imediato das interaçÔes humano-mĂĄquina com arte de narrar. O presente projeto de investigação propĂ”e-se a explorar as noçÔes e antecedentes das narrativas interativas e a sua aplicabilidade na web com o objetivo de melhor compreender os seus limites como campo de estudo e a sua relevĂąncia como mĂ©todo contemporĂąneo e experimental de contar estĂłrias. Para tal, foi feita, numa primeira fase, uma anĂĄlise teĂłrica a vĂĄrios tĂtulos relevantes para a evolução do gĂ©nero e uma revisĂŁo literĂĄria Ă s obras que abordam o tema, oriundas de game designers, narradores e acadĂ©micos. Num segundo momento, foi feita uma adaptação de um conto de ficção de Edgar Allan Poe para o formato de narrativa interativa para web. Um projeto que mistura tecnologias web com tĂ©cnicas de animação e de mixed media para a criação de grafismos dinĂąmicos. Ă notĂłrio a falta de consenso na utilização e definição de terminologias e encontramos a necessidade de clarificar definiçÔes e princĂpios em estudos futuros, mas de um ponto de vista prĂĄtico encontramos todo um potencial neste meio que ainda nĂŁo Ă© completamente explorado por criativos e narradores e que convida o utilizador, atravĂ©s dos mecanismos de interatividade, a ser um participante ativo. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Narratives have a profound influence on human societies as natural expression of language and culture, and as shapers of behaviors. Itâs unavoidable that in the technology centered society that we live in, the fusion of both worlds, the world of stories and the world of technology, gives birth to something new that combines human-machine interactions with the art of storytelling. The present research project aims to explore notions and the background of interactive narratives and their applicability on the web with the objective of better understanding their limits as a field of study and their relevance as a contemporary and experimental method of storytelling. For this, a theoretical analysis was made of several titles relevant to the evolution of the genre, as well as a literary revision of works that approach the theme, from game designers, narrators and academics. In a second phase, an adaption of a short story by Edgar Allan Poe was built as an interactive narrative for the web. This project mixes web technology with animation and mixed media techniques to create dynamic graphics. In the end it was clear that there is no consensus on the use and definition of terminologies and that there is a need to better clarify definitions and principles, but form a practical standpoint we find that there is a whole potential in this medium not yet fully explored by creatives and narrators, and that invites the user, by interactive means, to take an active role. | pt_PT |
