Abstract(s)
Os Estabelecimentos Militares de Ensino representam uma rede ligada ao
sistema educativo nacional constituída pelo Colégio Militar, Instituto de Odivelas e Instituto dos Pupilos do Exército diretamente dependentes do Comando de Instrução e Doutrina e do Chefe de Estado-Maior do Exército. No entanto, simultaneamente, cada uma destas instituições surge num contexto histórico completamente díspar e associado
a um conjunto de valores e rituais específicos.
Neste contexto, em pleno século XXI, observamos um Estado Social marcado
por uma decrescente influência na educação dos seus cidadãos que, consequentemente,
a par de outros fenómenos, nos conduz a uma crise de valores na sociedade. Nesta, procura-se enquadrar um conceito de cidadania que objetiva integrar os interesses individuais num interesse coletivo com um sentimento de pertença a uma comunidade social.
Deste modo, o farol desta investigação visou aferir o contributo do Instituto dos
Pupilos do Exército na formação cívica do seus discentes, sendo que, para tal, foi importante identificar os valores transmitidos, o nível de responsabilidade social presente, a sua participação em atividades extracurriculares e o seu relevo na relação com a sociedade civil.
A primeira parte deste trabalho demonstrará a metodologia e procedimentos adotados para a realização da investigação.
Posteriormente é consolidada a base teórica que sustenta o trabalho de campo consequente. Esta base teórica assenta numa visão sociológica do processo educativo, do conceito de cidadania e do novo Estado Social em que vivemos para, de seguida, apresentar os vários Estabelecimentos Militares de Ensino, a sua resenha histórica e as peculiaridades associadas a cada uma no âmbito da formação ministrada. A terceira fase envolve a explicitação e a sistematização dos procedimentos a utilizar na realização dos inquéritos por entrevista dirigidos a determinadas personalidades que, em última fase, representam o trabalho de campo realizado.
A quarta fase do estudo consubstancia a apresentação dos resultados dos
inquéritos por entrevista, a sua análise e discussão para, seguidamente, dar abertura a
uma análise SWOT relativa ao objeto de estudo.
Por fim, são relacionadas todas as variáveis em estudo de modo a tecer
conclusões que cumpram os objetivos estabelecidos inicialmente.
Deste modo, conclui-se uma forte vocação do Instituto dos Pupilos do Exército
para a formação cívica dos seus discentes numa perspetiva histórica, pela sua vocação
atribuída aquando do nascimento da República Portuguesa, estrutural, pelos vários órgãos e atividades que desenvolvem rumo a este objetivo, cultural, pela cultura organizacional assente em valores como a disciplina, responsabilidade social,
participação cívica, iniciativa e integridade de caráter.
Abstract Military Educational Establishments represent a network connected to the national education system composed by the Military College, Odivelas Institute and Army Pupils Institute directly dependent on the Army Training and Doctrine Command's Chief of Staff of the Army. However, simultaneously, each of these institutions arises in a different historical context and associated with a set of values and specific rituals. In this context, in the XXI century, a Social State characterized by a decreasing influence on the education of its citizens, hence the couple of other situations, leads to a crisis of values in society. This seeks to fit a concept of citizenship that aims at integrating individual interests in a collective interest with a sense of belonging to a social community. Thus, the aim of this research is to assess the contribution of the Army Pupils Institute in the civic education of its students, in so doing it will be important to identify the values provided, the level of social responsibility present, their participation in extracurricular activities and its importance in relation to civil society. The first part of this study demonstrates the methodology and procedures used to conduct the investigation. Later, it consolidated the theoretical basis that underpins the subsequent fieldwork. This theoretical basis is represented by a sociological view of the educational process, the concept of citizenship and the new state of society in which we live and, later, presenting the various Military Establishments of Education, its brief history and the peculiarities associated with each in the training given. The third phase involves the explicit and systematic procedures used in the carrying interviews on certain personalities which, in the final phase, represents the fieldwork. The fourth phase of the study is the presentation of the interview’s results, its analysis and discussion to subsequently realize a SWOT analysis. Finally, they are then related all the variables under study in order to draw conclusions that meet the goals initially set. Thus, we can assume a strong vocation of the Army Pupils Institute to civic education of their students in a historical perspective with their vocation assigned at birth of the Portuguese Republic, in a structural way with the various bodies that develop toward this goal and in a cultural context with an organizational culture based on values such as discipline, social responsibility, civic participation, initiative and integrity of character.
